I’m just going to say it, there is going to be a lot of work to do in the new year. The elephant in the room is the incoming administration to which most in the LGBTQIA+ community feel will present challenges, setbacks, and even a fight or two.
My goal in starting GrowingOlderGay was to create a positive space to educate, entertain and inspire those in our community who are maturing. We face unique challenges, we have unique fears, and we have life experiences that are quite unique compared to those of most heterosexual people.
This remains at the forefront of what I hope to achieve however this year we are going to be spending a lot of time arming ourselves for a power, a rising tide and a rule that we have no idea what will bring. We will need to educate. We will need to unify. We will need to act. This new era might be a bump in the road but many believe it could be a fight for our very lives as we know them.
In the coming weeks and months our YouTube channel will be rolling out with new videos that aim directly at our surviving and thriving under the new regime. Our website will support the channel with complimentary written content, our social media will continue to spread our educational words and positive inspirations.
We will need to fight yes, but we must remember to stay positive and continue to build utopia. We cannot stop dreaming, cannot stop creating, cannot stop building, and cannot stop loving. This will be our mission always.
